Advice for Singles – Day 4

Welcome back, friends! I don’t know about you, but I’m really enjoying this blog post series on advice for singles. The previous post felt a little heavy, so to lighten the mood, I’m going to share some advice that excites me.

Can you guess what it is? It’s not something that typically comes to mind when soliciting advice for singles, but I’m glad that it made its way into the conversation.

“You don’t have to be in a romantic relationship to lead a romantic life.”

And I agree with this statement 100%!

Romance is not exclusively for the dating, engaged, and married folks. Singles can experience romance, too; and if you want solo romance, I can give you a few pointers.

With the right ingredients (and mindset), singles can incorporate romance into their everyday lives; and I dare say that singles can experience romance in deeper and more profound ways in comparison to couples.

I learned early on to buy myself flowers, to treat myself to a nice meal at a nice restaurant, to plan solo getaways, to take luxurious bubble baths, to dress up and wear perfume just because it feels right. I also made a conscious effort to appreciate beautiful things, to add beautiful things to my personal space, and to create as often as possible. All of these things make life more romantic.

Within the last couple of years, I incorporated pamper days into my weekly rhythms. Why? Because they remind me that I’m worthy of extra care and attention, and they help me relax.

I’ve heard people advise singles to take themselves out on dates; but that’s only part of the idea here. Creating a romantic life is all about igniting the senses, so break out those scented candles, bath salts, chocolates, and essential oils. Stop and smell the roses (literally) and make a home for them in your bedroom. Look up at the stars at night and journal about your next solo adventure. Let your hair down and let those curls fly freely. Read and listen to things that stimulate your mind.

I know much of this sounds feminine and girly, but men, please take note and treat yourselves as well – however that looks!

On to day five tomorrow.
